OWL IZZY OR HER FAMILY | BACKSTORY WITH IZZY
1ST YEAR GRYFFINDOR//MUGGLEBORN
wand: 10 inch ash with a dragon heartstring core
History
Izzy was born the third of four children to Anthony and Marilla Sawyer near Muggle London. Her older brother Bryant ( brysawyer
) is a seventh year, also in Gryffindor, at Hogwarts and her other two brothers (Sam, 15 and Kenny, 8) both attend Muggle schools. Izzy is a precocious child and being the only girl has made her a bit "spoiled," though for the most part she is a good kid. Recently she has learned that she has yet another brother - seventh year Slytherin jeremypitt
- who she has quickly come to adore. Partially because he is basically wrapped around her little finger, but whatever works, eh? ;) She gets on well for the most part with her classmates, though she is anxious to try out some of the hexes Jeremy is teaching her on some of the less friendly kids at Hogwarts.
Quidditch
Izzy thinks quidditch is brilliant and is disappointed that her parents will not permit her a broom to practice with so she can try out for a house team next year. She is absolutely ecstatic that her "new" brother has offered to teach her to fly and flying class is her absolute favorite at Hogwarts. Though that might be largely because she gets to be outside during it doing something, rather than stuck in a stuffy classroom reading.
Academics
Izzy isn't a bad student, but she doesn't like to study. She does best at practical lessons (so long as it's something that comes naturally for her). Charms and DADA are her favourite classes and she absolutely HATES History of Magic. She'd probably do alright with Potions and Transfiguration if she actually had the drive and focus to pay attention in class and do the homework.
Izzy's Class Schedule:
Transfiguration: Tuesdays @ 1pm
Potions: Wednesdays @ 8am
History of Magic: Wednedays @ 10am
Charms: Thursdays @ 8am
DADA: Thursdays @ 10am
Herbology: Thursdays @ 3pm
Astronomy: Fridays @ 11pm
Social Life
Izzy adores her brothers like nothing else and would do anything for them. She gets on pretty well with her classmates - those that are nice to her, anyway. She is a very outgoing, sociable child and is rarely see outside the company of at least one friend.
Strengths/Skills
Izzy is an imaginative, outgoing, precocious child. She's very bright and is attentive when something interests her. She is most interested in active subjects - like Charms and DADA, but lacks the patience or attention span for subjects that require more study like Potions, HIstory of Magic, and Tansfiguration (all that weird science crap.. yeah, no thanks). As such, her skills in Charms and DADA are good for a first year, but her marks in History are abysmal and her only slightly better Potions and Transfig scores reflect the lack of attention she pays to them.
Izzy is not shy in the least. She'll walk up to anyone and say hello, ask the most embarassing questions wihout shame and expect an equally frank response. And she's pretty much adorable enough to usually get away with it.
Weaknesses
Naivety often comes with being young and Izzy definitely has that level of innocence. She doesn't get why some of the things she says are inappropriate or embarassing, because she really is asking out of an innocent curiosity. One might think her curiosity would have placed her in Ravenclaw, but her outgoing, brazen nature won out when she was sitting under the sorting hat.
Magically, Izzy is bad at the subjects which require a lot of research and studying. Her wand work is good, but when it comes to sitting still and reading, she pretty much fails. Her worst class by far is History of Magic. She also lacks the patience for Astronomy and isn't very good at Herbology (though she loves the greenhouses). Transfiguration and Potions are also slight weaknesses, more because she lacks the patience and focus for them than because she lacks the aptitude. Perhaps she'll settle down and perform better as she grows older, but I wouldn't count on it ;)
In the Stars
Izzy was born under the sign of Aquarius. Positive traits include brilliance, innovation, individuality, openness, social consciousness, inventiveness, practical skill, and self assertion; negative traits are eccentricity, lack of attachment to people and the "real world," over-intellectualizing of the emotions, a crotchety temper, rigidity, intellectual arrogance, and stubbornness.
Gryffindor Aquarians are the social activists and loons of their House. They'll picket for House Elf Liberation. They'll wear their robes inside out because they spent all night reading, not pay attention to how they dressed the next day, and not care if their rumpled appearance is pointed out to them. They are intellectual rebels and will loudly defend their opinions, even if doing so makes enemies. They are apt to question authority. "Even Merlin was wrong, some of the time," they'll say, shrugging. While not particularly good at dealing with crisis situations (they stress out easily) they do tend to have enough foresight to see the situations coming, and prevent them from happening in the first place. They can be flamboyantly talented, but are less interested in using their talent to "make it big" than in using it to make a better life for themselves or other people. Because Gryffindor tends to be a flamboyant house, these oddballs (they are always odd) tend to stick out for being unusual. |
